A Loire castle in the heart of Périgord!
Located in Hautefort, 50 minutes from the hotel in the Périgord region, this beautiful thousand-year-old castle is a former medieval fortress that became a pleasure residence in the 17th century. Today, the Château de Hautefort is a real jewel of architecture classified as a Historic Monument, nestled at the top of a plateau which dominates the Beuze and Lourde valleys.
Built on the site of an old Roman camp, the Domaine de Hautefort consists of a classical furnished castle, a French garden and a 30-hectare park. The castle is a fine example of classical architecture in the Dordogne reminiscent of the castles of the Loire Valley.
During your visit, you can browse the different rooms of the castle and admire a fine collection of furniture from the 17th and 18th centuries, the tapestries room, the large living room, the kitchen, the furnished apartments... Don't miss the visit to the gardens at la Française open until nightfall.
Throughout the year, events and activities are offered: theatrical visits, video projections, exhibition spaces...
