The Périgord Blanc
Home > Tourisme > The Dordogne and the 4 Périgord regions
The Périgord Blanc is the land of Périgueux and the Isle valley in the center of the Dordogne, the link between the Périgord Vert, Noir and Pourpre... It is also the land of the périgourdine gastronomy, truffles, porcini mushrooms, foie gras and duck confit...
Criss-crossed by the Auvézère and Isle rivers, the Périgord Blanc occupies the central part of the department, from Hautefort to Montpon, via Périgueux.
Your route will take you to Périgueux which houses the Périgord Art and Archeology Museum, the Gallo-Roman Vesunna Museum, the Saint-Front Cathedral and its Byzantine-inspired cupolas.
On the Ribérac side, you can discover the small fortified Romanesque churches with domes built during the 12th century. To appreciate this architectural specificity, you can follow a tourist route that connects about forty churches.
Do not forget to stop at Neuvic to visit the castle and the botanical park, Saint-Germain-du-Salembre where stands a charming castle built on the site of an old Gallo-Roman villa, Sorges the "capital of the black truffle", Mussidan bathed by the river Isle or even Saint-Astier.
