3 minutes from the hotel, Bourdeilles was the first of the four baronies of Périgord in the 11th century. The village is home to two castles from different periods: a medieval fortress (18th century) and a Renaissance palace (16th century) built on a rocky terrace overlooking the Dronne.
3 km from the hotel, the feudal castle (13th-14th), built by a relative of the King of France, Géraud de Maulmont, who took possession of it in 1283, is dominated by a 35 m high octagonal keep. It was fiercely coveted and the scene of bloody epics until the 16th century. After the Hundred Years' War, Jacquette de Montbron, a woman "architect" of the Renaissance and widow of André de Bourdeille, seneschal of Périgord, built the house.
Today, visitors can admire a magnificent collection of furniture from the 15th to the 19th century which bears witness to the splendor and grandeur of the Château de Bourdeilles.
To see: the main building and the high tower which dominates the town and the surrounding countryside, the furnished apartments and reception rooms, the painted decoration of the "golden salon", Charles V's bed adorned with golden sculptures (furniture of Spanish style), the "arms room" on the ground floor...
